Western Province league

Camps Bay is proud to have fielded 12 Men’s teams and 5 Women’s teams in the WP Winter League 2013. We are well known to be good competitors and excellent hosts.

We have teams at all levels, right up to 1st league where the internationally-ranked players play.
Winter League is the best platform to improve your game because of the variety of styles you face every week plus it also gives you the extra motivation to improve your game. The bonus is you get to know the people in your team so it’s easy to organize social games with members of similar standard.

The season starts in March and runs until late August/ early September and fixtures happen on weekdays, alternating home and away games. The home team always supplies a meal and drinks to the visiting team so it’s a great way to get to know squash players from different parts of Cape Town.

Summer league

During ‘off-season’ Camps Bay holds a summer league for its members. This is a fun, social league that runs for around 8 weeks in October/November. After the matches are played, everyone sits down to a supper that one of our members prepares. Some evenings bring entertainment such as wine tasting, beer tastings and live music. It is a very festive evening where our members can socialise with each other. The final evening of matches leads to a prize giving and social party. This is certainly an event most choose not to miss.

Club Champs

Every year a Club Champs tournament is held for us to award our top male and female squash players. This is held before winter league as it also helps with ranking all the Camps Bay players. This is a knockout tournament.

Ranking Tournament

We’ve found that players get the best out of a league season when they’re placed correctly. Placed too high and they never win a game, too low and they struggle for decent competition.

In order to try to get players and teams into their most suitable positions, we’ll be holding a ranking tournament in late Jan/ early Feb to help determine the league teams for the year.

Doing well in the tournament is a good way of making sure you get into the team where you should be playing.
